The problem this solves
Two reps price the same service at two different amounts. They type products in by hand on every deal, and the same item has several names in the system, so a sales-by-product report is impossible.
How I work
I start from your price list: what you sell once and what by subscription, where the price tiers are and which currencies you quote in. From that, I write the rules for names, SKUs and billing types.
In HubSpot, I build a product library with a price, currency and billing frequency on every item. I agree with the sales manager which discounts a rep can give on their own and which need approval. Line items on quotes, invoices and subscriptions come from one list, so finance sees which product every amount comes from. I leave instructions for adding and changing products and train the person who will own the price list.
What you get
- A product library with SKU, price and billing type
- Prices in every currency you sell in
- Written discount rules
- Consistent line item names on quotes and invoices
- A sales-by-product report
- Instructions for adding and changing products
