The problem this solves
Deals are in HubSpot, but the forecast still comes from the sales manager’s spreadsheet. When the quarter lands below plan, nobody can say whether there weren’t enough deals or deals got stuck at some stage.
How I work
A forecast is only as good as the deal data, so I first check that deals have close dates and amounts and that stages mean the same thing to every rep. If they don’t, I clean up the pipeline before building reports.
Then I set up the Sales Hub forecasting tool with forecast categories, rep and team targets, and a view where the manager collects the team’s forecast. Next to it, I build a dashboard with target coverage, stage-to-stage conversion, time in stage and a list of deals whose close date slipped. I add a rep activity report alongside their results. I train the manager and leadership on these dashboards, in 1.5-2 hour sessions.
What you get
- A review of close dates, amounts and stages on deals
- Forecast categories and rep targets
- A forecast view for the manager and leadership
- A target coverage and stage conversion dashboard
- A list of deals with a slipped close date
- A rep activity report next to results
